Solids??

Okay mommies so I need some advise, Cole is still not sleeping through only sleeps for about 3 hours or so if lucky and lately a few people have told me to put him on solids but everywhere I read it says you are only meant to put him on solids at 6 months so what to do what to do? When do you mommies start your little ones on solids and did you also go on rice cereal first?
